2015 Honors Cup

The Honors Cup is an annual match held in the fall between the top Hilton Head Island Chapter professionals and the top members of the Hilton Head Island Amateur Golf Association.  Each team is comprised of twelve players.  Four Ball Matches are played in the morning and singles matches follow in the afternoon.

Points are earned in ALL HHIPGA Chapter Events to determine who represents our Chapter. The Captain has (2) two Captains picks, and the Tournament Director qualifies automatically. The other nine players are the players with the most points at the end of the events leading up to the Honors Cup. In the event of a tie, the player(s) finishing highest in the Professional's Championship shall make the team. If this does not break the tie, the Captain shall decide who makes the team. Our Chapter Vice-President serves as Captain.

 2015 Hilton Head Open

August 7th-9th

Port Royal- Robbers Row

Mr. Three-Peat, John Patterson Clinches #3

John Patterson clinches his third straight Hilton Head Open in an impressive form. John Patterson of Chechessee Creek Golf Club started round two of the Hilton Head Open with only a one stroke lead over Seth Sweet of Port Royal. Sweet doing his PGA internship at Port Royal under Head Golf Professional, Ben Smith, PGA. Sweet and Patterson started round two in the last pairing of the day. Patterson turned the front side at a score of -4 (32) and Sweet -1 (35). After the widen margin, it proved too much for Sweet to catch Patterson's -7 par, 65, which was the low round of the tournament. Patterson with only 1 bogey/+ the entire tournament, showed the field that he deserved to be the 2015 Hilton Head Open Champion.

The host, Port Royal Golf Club was a generous and extremely hospital. The golf course was in spectacular shape, thanks to Mark Volger and his staff. Also, special thank you to Ben Smith, PGA and his staff for providing an exceptional experience for all players.

Next year, could John Patterson claim #4? We have to wait and see.
